Advice For A New Warrior?
just started my warrior, any advise when it comes to choosing a good second early on?
proph char, no prema pre.
note-no nightfall, i own all other games though.
and if people could throw in some good weapons/inscptions/mods that would be great, they dont have to be beginners stuffs either.
ty,
~Ari
**note- another question, what would be best? axe, hammer, or sword? im also wanting to know the speed of the weapons, ex. first is blahblahblah for reason blahbityblah.

furious is a bad mod.
You'd be looking at the following mods :
swords : vampiric, zealous, elemental
axes : vampiric, zealous, elemental, (sundering)
hammers : vampiric, sundering, elemental, (zealous)
15>50 is your friend for all-round stuff. Certain builds could of course profit from things like 15stance or 15enchanted.
Oh, and go read the guide stickied in this forum.
You can change your secondary once you're ascended. So it's realy not that important. /Mo for a hard res in PvE is always nice.

Try to use as much HP as you can (Radiant insignia's, best vigor you can buy and runes of vitae on remaining armorpieces), get a rune of clarity on your armor (-20% blind & weakness can be really helpfull), a minor strength rune and a headpiece+rune on it of the weapon you are using
always use minor runes (except for vigor), there's no need to sacrefice HP for just a few points more dmg
Absorption rune is kind of useless, so don't bother using it

Check the sticky for warrior secondaries, and good skills to use.
Anyways, here are some basic rules for playing Warrior:
1) Do big damage
2) Don't tank, warriors are meant to do big damage
3) Do big damage
4) Don't use healing prayers
5) Do big damage
6) DO BIG DAMAGE

I suggest to read the sticky on top of this page for builds and how to correctly use a warrior.

Warriors have 80 armor (116 vs physical if they are wearing a shield)
They have to tank (as in: keep agro on them)
ofcourse, the "do big damage" is also important

No. Their natural high AL is to keep them safe in the fromlines while they are infact doing seid big damage. Managing initial aggro is one thing, tanking is another.

They don't have to tank. They have to (or at least should) hold aggro while monks prot them, but they do not have to tank. This is what a warrior does:
1) Gets monk to prot
2) Pulls group
3) Gets aggro
4) Starts bashing shit in the face, doing big damage

I would go for /Monk for the hard res, and maybe condition / hex removal because the henchmen in Guild Wars Prophecies don't have either as far as I know, but you could always switch after you get ascended.

/Agree.
To add onto this, this bracketed mod in axes is for PvP since you don't really do properly coordinated spikes in PvE, and the bracketed mod for hammers is only if you find it quite hard to manage energy.
As for "tanking" concerns, any profession can do this. It's usually the person with the highest AL who is used to bodyblock them in a corner while holding the aggro, but don't ever bring a self heal on your bar except Healing Signet or Lion's Comfort. Your Monks should really be on the job for this, but only use them if you're not trustworthy about the Prophecies henchmen. (LOL ALESIA)
Oh, and since you don't have Nightfall you'll have to use Frenzy, Drunken Master or Tiger Stance. I would advise you to use Frenzy and take Rush as a cancel to get used to battlefield awareness, making decent choices and having the most effective PvE IAS next to Flail / Drunken Master.
All in all, use this information, blow shit up with your Dragon Slash, Eviscerate, Cleave or whatever and GG2U.

The dude is new and a proph character... it is important. He's gonna be stuck with it for awhile.
Oh.. just noticed the "do big damage" discussion. Those guys are fooling themselves if they think their role is to be the big bad brutish killer, saving the poor squishies who can't defend themselves. In a good mixed group, a warrior will agro and ball up the enemies and keep them there (knockdowns, crippling, interupts) so the aoe in the party can destroy them quickly. Sure you do damage like everyone else... but we're talking PvE... very stupid monsters.

i can level up a char almost as fast in Proph as i can in Factions, just by getting runs to the cay and doing all the missions from there. Only have to do 4missions and the Doppelganger and your 20 :P
Tanking bars are bad cause [Prot Spirit] > [Dolyak signet] may as well take damage skills and i dont mean [power attack]. Things like [Earth shaker] [Dragon Slash] [eviscerate] work better
as for what to use etc its all in the war guide

OT: As said, while you may want to hold aggro, don't try to tank. Focus on damage. DSlash warrior is a pretty conventional and versatile skill for sword warriors. I currently have builds using all three weapons and all three builds have [Skill]"For Great Justice!"[/Skill]. Without NF you're missing the best PvE IAS, [Skill]Flail[/Skill]. Frenzy might be do-able but I wouldn't go for it. In PvE using Frenzy kinda defeats the purpose of high armor when you're in the frontlines.

1) Use an IAS (increased attack speed)
2) Be brave.
3) Use high HP, sup runes? No.
4) The Mad Addict is noob. Stick to PvE.

Seriously guys/gals stop trolling (you know who you are)
Now back on topic
for the weapon swords are a little weak in proph once you get to Factions though, they are very powerful do to skills like [dragon slash]. I would say a hammer or axe is your best bet initially. If you like knocking stuff down hammers definitely. I like a quicker attack speed so axes are what I used initially, they also have a quick deep wound and some aoe attacks[cyclone axe]. So either axe or hammer for a character starting in prophesies.
As a general rule only use minor skill runes... the hp hit from major/sup are not worth it. For the weapon fortitude mods are good, the inc should be either vampiric or sundering. vampiric does more damage bu at the cost of health degen, sundering does less damage but has no degen. anyhow good luck and have fun

wow.. ultimate gwg member low? they let anyone in society these days, don't they?
to the OP, these guys already beat me to the punch as to weapons to consider, good skills, and the basic idea of how to play the warrior. all i can say on top of that is to remember that as a warrior, you have to be brave. make sure your monks (if they're human) know what you're doing, and just get in there and do it. too many new warriors are terrified to get dirty in this game. also, remember that your MAIN goal is to kill. not to heal, not to run all over the place, not to anything but kill. with practice, you'll learn how to position yourself WHILE killing to do things like aggro draw, body block, and corner pin. learn your skills, make sure you know exactly what they do, look up some good builds (theres a ton for warrior), and get to hackin'!
